Heard It On the Radio

by 3nam3s@gmail.com on 4/26/2021

From early on in my days, I really cherished the idea of music. I think my earliest recollection of music being something I loved was probably when I was in elementary school. I played the trumpet for 6 years, and sang in choir for 10 before retiring to the gridiron in my college years. Aside from all that, one thing about music that intrigued me, and kept me intrigued the entire time, was the fact that it was something that was never dying. Music lived forever, and what can be enjoyed by one generation can be enjoyed by many generations to come. My parents introduced me to some of the music that influenced me both as a child growing up, and subsequently as an artist and creative in the entertainment/music industry. I think initially, thats what drew me to some of the music that I heard from Bill and the SBMP.

I remember when I was going through Bill's website, the very one I am writing this blog post on, wondering if I was going to be able to work some of my previous magic for his project. I read through what he was about, first of all, and it was pretty impressive. I have spent several years making music and producing instrumentals, so when I read that SBMP was made of instrumentals that Bill produced as backing tracks to his live performances and accompanied guitar or piano; I had to delve deeper. I found one of my favorite songs and hit play.

"There's a port on a western bay
And it serves a hundred ships a day
Lonely sailors pass the time away
And talk about their homes"

I listened to the song that I had heard so many times before, and smiled from ear to ear. It was a breath of fresh air to come to such an awesome realization that this was something I would thoroughly enjoy. Working with and listening to some of the songs that have been in the background of some of my favorite movies, television shows, and some of the melodies I have hummed since I was a child. My fiance and I will be writing many more blog posts, but I wanted to make this first one about the experience I got when I realized that working with Bill and the SBMP is something that the 10 year old me would be very, very proud of.

That's exactly what I am trying to convey. "Feel good music from a slightly simpler time". Thank you for "getting it". :-)
