The song "Carolina In My Mind" reflects James Taylor's homesickness while recording with the Beatles in London in 1968. James longed to return to North Carolina, the home of his childhood days. He said the song is all about "that feeling of being called away to another place."
"Carolina in My Mind" is considered by many to be the unofficial state anthem for North Carolina. The song also became a tradition at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It has been played at athletic events and pep rallies and sung by graduating classes at several university commencements.
