The band America is still touring!

by wrm@mws.phxcoxmail.com on 8/22/2022

Went to hear the band America perform at the Mesa Arts Center tonight as part of their ongoing 50th anniversary tour. Both Dewey Bunnell and Gerry Beckley performed all their feel good favorites such as Tin Man, Ventura Highway, Sister Golden Hair, Horse With No Name, Lonely People, I Need You, Don’t Cross The River and many more. They also did a hell of a rendition of the song Sandman which has always painted a very powerful vision of the horrors of the Vietnam war.

So wish Dan Peek, their third original member, was still alive to join them. Anyway, it was great to see and hear Gerry and Dewey and the rest of their band consisting of a very good and flashy young drummer on a platform behind the singers.  On stage left was an outstanding lead guitarist who was quite versatile and played keyboard and even banjo.  On stage right was a very experienced and solid bass player.  Long Live the band America!
